AGE WELL “MAGIC 12” HEALTHY LIFE HABITS (Short list)
(To Live a Long and Healthy Life)

EXERCISE: Get regular moderate to robust exercise 4-6 days a week, for a total of 3 to 4 hours a week. Do workouts you enjoy.

LEAN DIET: Eat a lean healthy and, primarily, plant-based or Mediterranean-style diet, including lean smaller servings of meat (4-6 oz.).

BREAKFAST: Eat a healthy/lean breakfast every day.

SLEEP: Get regular restful sleep every day---7 to 8 hours.

MEDICAL CARE: Have a primary, i.e. family-care physician, and do regular visits. Make sure you get medical care whenever you need it. DO NOT ignore symptoms.

DENTAL CARE: Take care of your dental health. Brush twice each day, morning and before bed. Floss every day.

RELATIONSHIPS: Maintain healthy, positive family relationships and friendships. Nurture those relationships regularly.

ATTITUDE: Use/learn a positive mindset, and practice/learn optimism.

PURPOSE: Have a purpose to your life, and maintain your purpose in retirement.

CHEMICALS: Do NOT abuse tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or any chemicals.

STRESS: Keep your stress under control, especially negative chronic stress. Negative stress can be a slow killer.

RELAX AND RECREATE: Learn to relax, and get some relaxation daily, or at least several times a week. Engage in some recreational activities you enjoy. They will give you renewed energy and a more positive outlook on life.
