LIFESTYLE CHANGES
Here at The Spine Center, we usually recommend surgery as the last option for treating low back pain.

In fact, we do surgery on less than 5% of our patients.

We have many other less drastic, less invasive, and yet very effective ways to give you relief from your low back pain and other symptoms.

One of the options we look at in many of our cases is simple lifestyle changes. By that, we mean healthier eating and exercise.
We know from long experience that eating the wrong foods and lack of exercise can lead to several types of back problems.

These problems include weight gain and weak back muscles, tendons, and ligaments that are out of shape. Once out of shape, they don’t support your spine.

As a result, your vertebrae and discs no longer get the support they need. The back can get out of alignment, and nerves then get pinched or otherwise irritated.

That, in turn, can lead to not only back pain but sometimes also radiating pain down into your arms and legs.
Positive lifestyle changes can work wonders.

Yes, this means eating better and exercising. Those two changes both reduce weight and strengthen those muscles, tendons, and ligaments in your back.

We do NOT believe in sudden changes in either eating habits or exercise.

Experience has taught us those rapid changes don’t work---they don’t last. So instead, we strongly suggest gradual changes to both.

Of course, both require guidance from our nutritionist and physical trainer. But if you have the right attitude and a little discipline, the results will amaze you.

And here is some GREAT news. Healthy eating and regular moderate exercise have many other excellent benefits.

Experts say you will experience more energy, a more positive outlook on life, and better sleep.

You will also have better heart and lung health, better overall health, and reduced chances of minor and major illnesses.

“Lifestyle changes” can sound like a big deal. But when you consider all the significant improvements in your back and overall health, you need to give it a very serious look.

Here at The Spine Center, we show you how to do it. We show you how to succeed.
